J Clayton Hughey a.k.a. the “Tatdaddy” was born in Dallas in August 27, 1970 to international platform stylist Suzi Starr, and international computer banking guru Don Wayne Hughey. Most of his family is in and around central Texas but he lived in San Francisco bay area on and off until age 14.

His formal art training began in 1985 when he learned to letter, and by ’86 was painting signs professionally.

He recieved his formal introduction to Professional Tattoo at Tigger’s in Deep Ellum, Dallas in 1989, and has tattooed in Dallas, Houston, Phoenix,
Anaheim, San Francisco, Pittsburgh, Sacramento, New Orleans, Rapid City, Sturgis, Reno, Tampa, Fort Meyers, Abilene, and Oklahoma City to name the largest cities…

In 2002 he trained to perform Basic and Advanced permanent cosmetics with the American Institute of Intradermal Cosmetics and has performed hundreds of permanent make up procedures, however is still in the process of obtaining licensing in the state of Oklahoma.

In 2002 he opened 1st ST Tattoo, and Pigment of Your Imagination in Abilene TX. And in 2004 was given special mention at the 25th annual National Tattoo Association’s National Convention for contribution to the advancements in the industry (for developing and marketing the first ever tattoo industry specific software for studio/client management )

Clayton always knew that tattooing in OK would become legal in his career’s lifetime and said he would be one of the first. He has tattooed all over the Nation and has come to love Oklahoma the best. He say’s that he love’s working with Josh and is happier than he has ever been in his career right here at Tornado.

He also plays live blues around the city pretty regularly, he writes/composes and performs his own original material ( he sings ,plays bass,lead guitar and, lap steel/slide guitar,)

He was awarded the rank of Black Belt by two time hall of famer Master Mike Nottingham for life achievement credit in self defense. And is also a Licensed Master Instructor of Cosmetology.
